Plane ticket price from China to Thailand had increased significantly after Thailand announced its visa free policy to Chinese citizens. Previously, in my impression, they were around 500 CNY, or 70 USD. However when I was planning my trip, the price had doubled to around 1000 CNY.
My nearest airport is Changsha Huanghua Intl. Airport (CSX), where there are two direct flights to Bangkok, operated by AirAsia and Thai VietJet. They all depart just before midnight and land just after midnight, which means I have to arrive at the crazy time when all public transports are out of operation. Besides, they are not cheap, considering you have to stay in Bangkok for one more night and pay the taxi from airport to the hostel, they do not seem appealing comparing to other flights with a layover (also with a free checked baggage).
I heard Xiamen Airlines provide free overnight hotel for transfers that include at least one international flight, plus I like Xiamen very much, I chose their service.
